  Thousands line Plymouth streets for Tom Daley's homecoming

  Thousands of people lined Plymouth’s streets on 31 July 2009 to welcome home diver Tom Daley after he won the 10m diving gold medal at the World Diving Championships in Rome.

  A civic reception with the lord mayor was held for the 15-year-old, followed by an open-top bus tour along Plymouth’s Royal Parade.

  Tom showed his gold medal to the crowds and highlights of his performance were shown on a big screen in the city’s piazza, where he was interviewed.
