The annual Activ8 summer football tournament, run in partnership with Active Dorset County Sports Partnership and East Dorset Housing Association (EDHA), took place on Wednesday 19th August, with three teams eventually emerging victorious.
Active Dorset & East Dorset Housing Association's community football project, Activ8 has announced its important summer dates, including the date of the 2009 summer football tournament.
New dates have been announced for the May school holidays for Activ8 football. If you have any questions regarding the free-to-attend football, please email Gary Head; ghead@bournemouth.ac.uk.
On Tuesday 5th May, those aged 16 and over on the Activ8 project played their first ever senior football match against Bournemouth University Staff Team (BUST).
Activ8, the free-to-attend community football programme funded by Active Dorset CSP & East Dorset Housing Association, has announced the coaching dates for the Easter school holidays.
On Wednesday 18th February, Active Dorsets Community Football Coach Gary Head visited Southampton FCs academy coaching team, with volunteer coaches Ollie Boylan and Ed Taylor also invited.

Blandford RFC has achieved the Rugby Football Union's club accreditation for Mini and Youth Seal of Approval.
Dorset has been successful with its AdiZone bid put in with support by Weymouth College and to be located at Redlands Community Sports Hub, Weymouth.

Two coaches who work for West Dorset District Councils Sports Unlimited programme have been awarded the coach of the year honour by the Sir John Colfox school, at their end of year awards.
A Vetting & Barring Scheme Communication Event for NGB amd CSP Designated Officers was held at the Child Protection In Sport Unit on 24th July.
It provided updated information on the scheme run by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
Delegates were able to discuss the implications for sport at length and a number of questions and concerns were raised, which will be addressed as soon as possible.

The DCSF has worked with the Anti-Bullying Alliance to develop good practice resources in tackling bullying in community settings. The Safe from Bullying guidelines include Safe from Bullying in Play and Leisure Provision and coaches/instructors in sport, dance and physical activity may find this very useful in developing their own strategies prevent bullying.

The week long Special Olympics National Summer Games finally arrived wet and windy. Despite this the people of Leicester made 3,700 athletes and 1,200 coaches extremely welcome. The majority of the volunteers would not have been in contact with people with learning disabilities before but by the end of the week, such was the bonhomie and camaraderie, you would have been forgiven for thinking that friendships had been formed years ago.
