The Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation have outlined 11 compelling reasons why sports should work with women and girls in a new leaflet. The motivations concentrate on the benefits that governing bodies of sport can gain, rather than stressing legal or moral obligations that they may be under. The North East Regional Equality in Sport Conference took place recently. 118 delegates attended from the sports, community and voluntary secors to show their support for challenging barriers faced by under-represented groups within sport and physical activity. The National Women's Boxing Development Manager is organising a course next month to encourage more females into the sport as coaches and tutors. The Boxing Tutor Course is open to women over the age of 16 and is ideal for sports leaders, sports coaches, university students, health / physical activity instructors, SSCO's, PDM's, PLT's, and teachers as a whole. No previous experience is required The course enables delegates to be able to teach fun, recreational, non-contact, introductory Boxing for all! A key aspect of the course aims to enable delegates to teach the Boxing Skills Awards, which are also now part of an ASDAN qualification (GCSE equivalent) in Boxing. Boxing has a strong history as a sport of engaging with young people that are hard to reach e.g. disaffected youth

The Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation (WSFF) have launched an education initiative for schools across the country, in a bid to tackle the increasing levels of physical inactivity amongst young girls.
