The ELGA Trust aims to help young, female golfers in need. It will fund the cost of purchasing essential equipment, tuition, accommodation and travel. Each year the Trust awards grants totalling approximately £40,000 helping girl golfers and encouraging newcomers to the sport throughout England. Much of the emphasis has moved towards coaching for beginners and simply making golf an attractive sport for girls to play.

We are now seeking to appoint three enthusiastic and self motivated coaches as part of the national Community Sport Coaching Scheme (CSCS).coach.

SEN Football Festival 2008

Thursday 23rd October saw 9 Special Schools from across Wiltshire attend a festival of football at Devizes Leisure Centre. The festival which, was sponsored by Pertemps, was organised and delivered by STFC Football in the Community and funded through the Wiltshire FA Disability Strategy.

As most of you would now have been alerted to, England Basketball is moving our Level 1, 2 and 3 Coaching Awards over to the UK Coaching Certificate. Level 1 has successfully moved over and numerous courses have already been offered, Level 2 has been accepted by 1st4sport and can begin being offered at the start of November, and we hope that Level 3 will be ready early in the New Year.

With our Paralympians continuing our success on the world stage, it has been another good month for sport. We celebrated the Paralympic handover with a great local sporting festival. We have received significant funding from the Wiltshire PCT to promote sport and physical activity as a key way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and can continue to take a wider approach to the promotion of community sport.
Take time out to nominate your Unsung Hero and reward those volunteers who are so essential to the fabric of sport in this country. And if you think you are too old for sport and physical exercise then be inspired by Fit as a Fiddle!

Fit as a Fiddle

Senior citizens across Wiltshire are enjoying exercising to music.
The Fit as a Fiddle Project ( FAAF ) is a major new programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund and delivered by Age Concern England and the nine English Age Concern regions. In the South West the programme aims to improve the mental and physical well being of up to 800,000 older people.

Paralympic Handover 17 9 08

An estimated 5,000 schools and colleges across the UK took up London 2012s invitation to lead the celebrations and welcome the Paralympic Games home, on the day London Mayor Boris Johnson received the Paralympic Flag during the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
In the South West alone, 273 schools and colleges officially registered to be part of the Paralympic Handover with many more also taking part in activities.
