These days to get things done we need to be able to influence well beyond the limits of our formal power. Whether this be working across departments within an organisation, or with the many partnerships that now form part of our daily working and sporting life, we need to find ways to convince people to engage with us when they can choose not to.
Fundamental to exerting this influence is to identify areas of common ground, but this ground is not always obvious and it may require a commitment to trust and openness from both parties to explore and identify mutual goals.
The purpose of this workshop then is to:
- Raise awareness of the need to be able to influence outside our own span of control
- Review negotiation strategies
- Explore some tools for increasing our ability to influence others effectively whether it be face-to-face, or in writing (such as in a funding bid)
The workshop will be held in Melksham on 22 Oct between 0900 and 1600 and will cost £105 including lunch and refreshments. For
further detail or to book contact Nina Goldsworthy ninagoldsworty@wiltshire.gov.uk
